Almost two years ago, I found this jean jacket in JCrew’s clearance section for under $30! I was looking for a quality jacket like this without the high price tag- so of course I purchased it without hesitation! When I brought it home, I tried styling it and couldn’t pin point what felt off about the looks. It was the harsh brass buttons. I probably can count on my fingers how many times I wore it since.
Recently, I made a discovery and decided to put it to the test- and it involves nail polish! All you need is Essie’s “No Place Like Chrome” polish, nail polish remover, cotton balls, and painters tape if needed.
You need to apply thin layers of the polish. At first, it seemed as though the polish was too thick over the lettering, but as it dried it settled perfectly! I painted on 2-3 coats, and it dried within 15 minutes. If you mess up or change your mind, just remove with nail polish remover and try again! This works for most hardware including zippers, and don’t worry, it won’t ruin in the wash.
As I was applying the polish, I was excited seeing the jacket transform just by changing the buttons! You can see what a huge difference it makes in the photo, even more so with my outfits! I was going to buy a new jacket but decided to try this first- and I’m so glad I did! Try it out for yourself!!
